ACADEMIC UNIT

Academic Unit, a very special task group comprising experts from various subjects came into being in 1998. Its main purpose is to work for the development of both the staff and students assisting them to grow in all respects. Since its inception, it has established a good rapport with all the centres and all staff members, garnering their views and suggestions for the betterments of students.

It works towards enhancing the quality of education of various subjects and constantly monitoring the performance of the students. It also caters to the needs of teachers as well by organising orientation programmes for academic excellence. Headed by a Principal and a Vice-Principal, the academic unit houses teachers of very high caliber and efficiency to prepare our own text books for the primary level, question banks, centralized evaluation schedule, purchase of quality books for school libraries et al.

It also organizes various programmes like the Olympiad for students, refresher courses for science subjects, One day seminars and conferences, symposiums and the like. Science oriented programmes such as exhibitions, talent search examinations and quiz programmes. It also conducts various programmes like Kavi sammelan, Poetry reciting competitions for teachers during important national festivals and occasions.

The main objectives of the academic unit are

• To strengthen the academic supervision of the schools
• To organise in-service courses
• To promote improvements and innovations in education
• To assist the secretary in co-ordinating educational programmes
• To formulate the guidelines in academic matters in consulation with the principals
• To monitor the academic functioning of the schools
