The Talent Nurture Programme |
To assist the socially and economically disadvantaged people who reside in rural/tribal stretch in the vicinity of AEC Schools, the AEES has sought to provide opportunities to bright and promising children from less fortunate families by launching the Talent Nurture Programme.
The students are selected on the basis of their performance in the non-verbal perception test and oral test. Most of the children studying under this programme are first generation learners from deprived background. Hence special coaching is arranged during the summer vacation and also after school hours. Continuous monitoring of the academic work of these children is done and recorded. One PRT with the right attitude is assigned to this group as caretaker, mentor, friend and guide. However, the HMs and Principals have been very encouraging and supportive in the case of such children.
Apart from free education, the children selected under TNP receive a monthly scholarship (Rs.300/- for every boy student and Rs.400/- for every girl student) to meet the travel and refreshment expenses. They are also provided free uniforms, textbooks and medical facilities.
The programme was started in June 1999 at three centres: Tarapur, Rawatbhata and Kakrapar. It was extended to 6 more centres by 2002: Manuguru, Kaiga, Jaduguda, Narwapahar, Kalpakkam & Anupuram and Indore, Narora and Kudankulam were included in 2004. In 2007-2008, 954 children (505 boys + 449 girls) are studying under this programme in 16 schools at 11 centres. |
